According to Akron Honey Company, "exciting honey makes the best food." They back up their words with creative flavors such as bourbon, habanero, and hickory-smoked strawberry.
When IT expert Brent Wesley spotted a vacant patch of land along the drive to his day job, beekeeping was the furthest thing from his mind. But after Wesley bought the lot with a vague idea of creating something for the community, Akron Honey Company was born. In fact, Wesley has become so enamored of honey that he's using it as a base for diverse products such as ice cream and men's grooming products.

Popcorn as gourmet food? It is when it comes in fanciful flavors like White Cheddar, Habanero Sweet Fire, and Double Crunch, found at Mama Made It Kettle & Gourmet Popcorn.
Despite the store's name, the crunchy goodness from Mama Made It Kettle & Gourmet Popcorn is on a whole other level from your childhood snacks made on the stove or in an air popper. When the housing bubble crashed in the late 2000s, successful realtor Mark Whitworth seized the opportunity to expand his hobby into a thriving business. Mushroom-style kernels are popped in traditional kettles to form a shape that holds a variety of seasonings.

The two "married" their respective culinary backgrounds to open a bakery offering the best of both worlds. Authentic French pastries sit side-by-side in the display case with curry donuts, sweet red bean rolls, and other Japanese delicacies.
